A favicon (short for "favorite icon") is the small icon that appears next to your website's title in browser tabs, bookmarks, and mobile home screens. While it seems like a tiny detail, a crisp, professional favicon is essential for brand recognition and trust. Our Free Favicon Generator allows you to instantly generate production-ready favicons from text, emojis, or image files.

How to generate a Favicon

  1. Choose an Input: Select "Emoji / Text" to instantly generate a clean typographic icon, or click "Image" to upload an existing logo.
  2. Design & Crop: If you uploaded an image, use our built-in cropper to perfectly frame your logo. If you chose text, customize the font, colors, and border radius.
  3. Real-time Preview: The browser tab mockup on the right will update instantly, showing exactly how your site will look to users in the wild.
  4. Download & Deploy: Click "Download All" to get a zip file containing every standard dimension (16x16, 32x32, 192x192, 512x512). Finally, copy the generated HTML snippet and paste it into the <head> of your website.

Why do I need so many different sizes?

Historically, a single 16x16 `.ico` file was enough. However, the modern web is viewed on Retina displays, iPads, Android phones, and 4K monitors. Apple devices require a specific `180x180` "Apple Touch Icon" for when users add a website to their home screen. Android (via Progressive Web App manifests) typically requires `192x192` and `512x512` icons. Our generator automatically exports the exact bundle of dimensions you need to support all modern platforms.

Text and Emoji Favicons

Don't have a logo yet? No problem. Our text generator utilizes local system fonts and Google Fonts to generate beautiful typographic icons. A single bold letter or a relevant emoji placed inside a colored circle (using the 50% Border Radius setting) is a modern, lightweight, and incredibly effective way to brand a new project or MVP.
