Lossy vs. Lossless Compression
By default, our tool uses a smart Lossy compression algorithm for JPEGs and WebP images. Lossy compression permanently removes microscopic, redundant pixel data that the human eye cannot perceive. This is how we achieve massive 70-90% file size reductions while keeping the image looking virtually identical to the original.
For PNGs (which are often used for logos, text, or transparent graphics), we use Lossless compression techniques or convert them to modern formats to ensure sharp edges and transparency are perfectly preserved while still stripping out unnecessary metadata and optimizing the color palette.
