AI edits are how htmlhost measures use of its built-in AI: each change you ask for in the editor uses some of them. Every account has an included allowance that renews on a schedule, and you can add more with edit packs whenever you need them.
What uses an AI edit
A request to the built-in AI uses at least one edit. Larger requests, and stronger models, use more: the model you pick and how much of your project it has to read and change decide the total. The model picker shows roughly how many edits a request will use before you send it.
Changes you make yourself don't use any: editing text, swapping an image or a link with Element Edit, dragging sections from the Library, or typing in the code editor. Undo restores your project, but the edits a request used are not returned.
Your included allowance
- Free: 10 AI edits a day. A new day starts at 00:00 UTC.
- Pro: 3,000 AI edits a month, with no daily limit. Your month runs from the day you paid to the same day the next month.
Each new day (Free) or billing month (Pro) starts with your full allowance. The allowance is for that period, so it doesn't carry over.
Paying for several months of Pro
You can buy Pro for up to 36 months at once. However many months you pay for, the allowance stays the same: 3,000 AI edits in each month, renewing on the day of the month you paid, for every month of your plan.
For example, someone who pays for 6 months on January 10 gets:

That is 18,000 AI edits across the 6 months, with a full 3,000 at the start of each one. Yearly plans work the same way, across twelve billing months.
Renewing early keeps your dates: the extra time is added to the end, and your allowance still renews on the same day of the month. If Pro ends and you buy it again later, your new billing months start from the new payment date.
A month that falls short (paying on the 31st, for instance) renews on that month's last day.
Edit packs: more edits when you need them
If you run out before your allowance renews, buy an edit pack. Packs are one payment, not a subscription, and you don't need Pro to buy one.
- Sizes: 100, 300, 1,000 edits. Prices in your currency are shown when you buy.
- 30 days to use them. Buying another pack before then gives all your unused, unexpired pack edits a fresh 30 days.
- Included edits go first. Pack edits are only used once your included allowance for the period is spent.
- They outlast Pro. Pack edits keep working if your Pro plan ends, until they expire.
Open the menu under your avatar and choose Buy next to Top up AI edits, or use the usage badge in the editor. Checkout opens in a new tab, so your work stays open.
When a request goes wrong
If the AI service fails on our side, the edits that request used are returned. If you cancel a request, or the AI stops without applying a change, you're charged only for the work it had already done.
Checking your balance
The menu under your avatar shows how many included edits you've used this period, how many are left, and any pack edits. The bar turns amber, then red, as you approach your limit. In the editor, Settings → AI shows the same numbers and, on Pro, the date your next allowance starts.
Using your own API key
You can also connect your own key from a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic or Google in the editor's AI settings. Requests on your key don't use htmlhost AI edits at all; the provider bills you directly, under its own limits.
